Why not have your initials embroidered on a custom-made shirt?

Last November, my husband opened a custom suit shop.

I apologize for the late announcement, but we've also started carrying col&. pocket squares.

I am truly delighted that we now have this opportunity for you to see and touch the product in person.

The name of the shop is " COGITO TAILORED CLOTHING ".

It's located on the second floor of a building that stands quietly on a street lined with large buildings like Yokohama BUNTAI and Yokohama Budokan, a 6-minute walk from Kannai Station in Yokohama.

Since these are custom-made garments, many customers take their time to discuss and decide on their fabrics. Choosing fabrics is a truly enjoyable experience and one of the great pleasures of ordering custom-made clothing. We operate on an appointment basis, but please feel free to make a reservation for a preliminary visit.

Additionally, we are now offering initial embroidery as an optional service for shirts you order. Although I won't be at the store myself, we have embroidery samples available, and if you have any questions or concerns about embroidery, pocket squares, etc., please feel free to let us know, and I will make sure to be there.

The image below is a sample of initial embroidery.

Each character is tiny, about 5mm in size, but they are embroidered in a three-dimensional way, so you can feel the raised texture when you touch them. The use of German-made thread, which is as thin as the finest sewing machine thread, allows for incredibly detailed work.

Although it has a delicate construction, it is strong and durable, and can withstand washing and pressing.

*Please be careful with high-temperature irons.

I made a video of myself embroidering on a shirt.

We offer embroidery on shirts in two locations: the side of the torso or the arm.

I understand that many customers request embroidery on the cuffs or collar, but unfortunately, we cannot do this at the moment because we currently embroider after the shirts are sewn, and the thread would penetrate through to the lining. Please let us know if you have any other requests.

But when you actually think about where initial embroidery originated, you might want to choose a subtle place to put it rather than a conspicuous one.

In one of my favorite books, " European Life as Seen Through Handicrafts " by Yuki Paris , there is a section that touches on the origins of initial embroidery. It explains that in the past, laundry facilities were communal, so it was necessary to mark items to prevent them from getting lost.

At times like these, to avoid losing things, and to keep track of the many items folded and stored in the house linen cabinet, we needed to mark them for management purposes. Therefore, we embroidered initials or monograms to indicate ownership, and numbers for management, onto the corners and edges of the house linens, serving both as decoration and as a mark of ownership.

All of Yuki Paris's books are wonderful!

Along with the beauty and craftsmanship, the books also describe not only the history but also the background, making it very enjoyable to read and imagine the scenery of that era.

Now, regarding the best location for embroidery on a shirt , the area below the left chest is recommended. The color should be close to the shirt's fabric, and it's in a place that will be hidden when wearing a vest or jacket, so the embroidery isn't meant to be seen, but rather a mark of ownership.

Wouldn't you agree that adding even a small embroidered initial or favorite number to a shirt makes it truly special? Choosing the fabric for a custom-made shirt is a fun experience in itself, but adding initial embroidery will make it even more special and cherished.

The image shows a sample of the alphabet being embroidered.

I'm currently creating a sample for initial embroidery.

*For shirts, the embroidery is added after sewing, so an embroidery hoop is not used.

Embroidering on shirts has been something I've wanted to do ever since I started embroidering initials on pocket squares, so I'm truly grateful for this opportunity.

Each piece is embroidered carefully and with heartfelt dedication.

Why not take this opportunity to have embroidery added to a shirt and create a truly special garment?

It's also recommended as a gift.

Thank you for reading to the end.
